Promotion
of Access to Information Act
Information
Pack
The South African Government requires all public and
private bodies to compile a manual detailing certain information in compliance
with the 'Promotion of Access to Information' Act of 2000.
All private bodies have to submit this document to the
South African Human Rights Commission by 31 August 2005.
The manual must also be displayed on the company website and must be available
for public inspection at the company premises.
The rationale for the Act is to –
* foster a culture of transparency and accountability
in public and private bodies by giving effect to the right of access to
information;
* actively promote a society in which the people of
South Africa have effective access to information to enable them to more fully
exercise and protect all of their rights.
(Refer Preamble to the Act)
There is no cost in submitting the manual to the
relevant distribution channels but compiling the manual yourself is time
consuming. We have researched the requirements and developed an information
pack which will assist you in compiling a Section 51 Manual quickly and
effectively.
The information pack contains the following:
ü copy
of the Act,
ü guidelines,
ü fees,
ü website
links and
ü template
The cost of the information pack is R220.00 + R30.80
vat = R250.80
